It seems like only days ago when CEO Jim Ristow was fighting through driving snow (in April!) to get to his home in northern Wisconsin. We’re all reasonably sure the snow is finally gone for good, but his inspiration on that drive – the importance of momentum to make great things happen – is universal.
Here are Jim’s thoughts:
Returning home recently from a long stretch on the road to my home in northern Wisconsin, I was reminded in a big way just how fickle Mother Nature can be in this part of the country. A snowstorm this late in April is unusual; to get 22 inches is unheard of. Driving my car through the heavy snow on nearly impassable roads got me to thinking just how important momentum is. With enough momentum, you can plow through virtually anything. Without it, you’re stuck in place.
Over the past few months, it has become increasingly clear that we here at AVB have indeed amassed tremendous momentum that is driving us forward with an unstoppable force.
Consider what we as a group have recently accomplished:
- We launched the new Alta 360 web platform that is light years ahead of anything in the industry
- We opened our new marketing headquarters in Sacramento, uniting this industry’s best marketing experts under one roof
- We shattered our all-time attendance record at the Summit; we broke a first quarter record for recruiting new members
- We added a member relations team to assist you in your business
- We scheduled dividend payments of up to $3.5 million to our stakeholders in BrandSource Financial
All that, in just the past few months! Momentum can’t be faked. You either have it or you don’t. Clearly, we have it.
I invite each and every one of you to seize upon the momentum of your group (after all, you own it) by starting a new initiative. Whether it’s a new advertising strategy, a new training program, a new product line or possibly even a store remodel, take action. Initially, your changes will take time to take hold. But once you gain momentum, your action takes on a life of its own and only gets easier!
The thing about momentum is that once it gets going, it has the snowball effect. It builds upon itself and begets even more momentum until it is virtually impossible to stop. It’s a simple idea, but a very powerful one for you to consider in your business.
As for all that snow… (yes, I have snow on the mind) I encourage you to get whatever your “snowball” is, rolling. We are here to provide the push that gives your business the momentum to become that unstoppable force – let’s get it rolling!
